Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
SoundHuman is built with a simple rule: check the writing, don't keep it. This page explains exactly what happens to your data, in plain language.
The short version: the text you paste or the resume you upload is sent once to run the AI check, is not logged or stored anywhere, and is never used to train any model. Some small technical data (usage counts, license status, an anti-abuse fingerprint) is kept to run the free tier and subscriptions fairly.
What we process, and why
- The text you check. Pasted text, or text extracted locally from a resume PDF, is sent to our server, forwarded once to an AI provider (OpenRouter) to run the analysis, and the response is returned to you. It is not saved on our server and is not stored by us after the request completes.
- Resume PDFs. The PDF file itself never leaves your browser. Text is extracted locally using a PDF-reading library that runs on your device; only the extracted text is sent for analysis.
- Usage counters. How many free checks you've used, and how many checks are left on a paid plan, are stored locally in your browser (via the Chrome extension storage API) and, for the free tier specifically, a technical counter tied to a hashed combination of IP address and browser identifier is kept on our server for up to 90 days. This exists solely to prevent the free tier from being reset by reinstalling the extension, and is not linked to your identity beyond that hash.
- License and subscription status. If you subscribe, your license key is validated against our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) to confirm it's active and which plan it corresponds to. We do not store your payment details ourselves, Lemon Squeezy handles billing directly.
- Preferences. Theme (light/dark) and similar settings are stored locally in your browser.
Who else sees this data
Three service providers are involved in making SoundHuman work, each only sees what's strictly needed for their part:
- OpenRouter (AI processing) receives the text being checked, to run the analysis, and returns a result. It does not receive your name, email, or payment information from us.
- Cloudflare (hosting and infrastructure) processes requests to run the check and enforce usage limits.
- Lemon Squeezy (payments and licensing) handles your subscription, billing, and license key. Their own privacy policy governs the payment information you provide to them directly.
We do not sell data to anyone, and we do not use your text for advertising or to train any AI model.
Your choices
- You can clear all local usage data and preferences at any time from Settings inside the extension ("Reset local data").
- You can deactivate a license from a device at any time from Settings, freeing that activation slot.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all data stored locally in your browser.
Children's privacy
SoundHuman is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13.
